AMPERE part of a workshop that provides advice to the EC on the engineering practices and tools needed to support applying SoS to CPS
AMPERE was presented by Eduardo Quiñones (BSC) on Thursday 10 September 2020 at a HiPEAC workshop titled “SoS integration with CPS” online with CPS & SoS coordination support from:

- Vicky Wandels - University of Gent.
- Koen De Bosschere - University of Gent.
- Jean-Luc Garnier - Thales Systems Engineering Directorate.
The workshop provided a CPS clustering opportunity for the successful projects of the recent H2020 ICT call and its aim is to have 20 specialists present to go into sufficient discussion depth about questions such as:
- How do we integrate SoS technologies with a CPS (specifically what are the tools and techniques supporting the SoS technology transfer)?
- What are the consequences in relation to the acronym CPSoS?
- What are the common challenges of the two domains where it would be worthwhile to combine forces?
HiPEAC provides an advisory role to the European Commission, and within the context of this workshop, a clearer model for cyber-physical systems (CPS) that is scalable is depicted and hence it will be easier to show where and how advancements are taking place and are being developed. One of the defining characteristics of this model is coordination and collaboration. More generally, a CPS is a product with a type of goal (cyber to physical) and it is about integration engineering (cyber and physical).
This model has been discussed and refined at several dedicated CPS workshops and provided as a report to the European Commission (see e.g. Sections 4.2/4.3 in Collaboration on the foundations of CPS engineering). Therefore, this workshop will result in a public report to the European Commission, including advice related on the engineering practices and tools needed to support applying SoS to CPS.
